The Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras has been traditionally celebrating the birthday anniversary of the gifted Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, by conducting a national symposium. This year the National Symposium on Mathematical Methods and Applications will be held on 22.12.2015 (Tuesday). The symposium will have invited talks and paper presentation sessions. The papers may be in any area of Mathematics.Only original and recent research works for example recent results obtained by research scholars and active researchers, are invited for presentation.

Submission of abstract:

Participants intending to present a paper are required to submit an extended abstract with a minimum of 500 (and not exceeding 1000) words. Submission of the extended abstract should be made as an attachment by email along with the filled-in registration form. The abstract will be reviewed by a committee of experts and the names of the participants selected for paper presentations will be put up on this website.


Registration is compulsory for all the participants. Registration fee is Rs.500/-. A demand draft (DD) is to be drawn in favor of National Symposium on Mathematical Methods and Applications payable at State Bank of India, IIT Madras, Chennai-36. Participants are requested to send the DD along with the signed print-out of the registration form duly filled in. The details of the DD need to be entered in the registration form. Please write your name, email and mobile number on the reverse of the DD for easy identification. Please retain a photocopy of the signed registration form and DD for your records. Registrations will start on November 1, 2015, when the registration form will be made available in this website under the link "Registration" on the left.


Accommodation may be arranged on request in the student hostels only for a limited number of outstation participants, on a first-come-first-served basis, depending on availability. The request for accommodation should be made in the registration form. The room tariff is approximately Rs.300/- (per person per day). In case accommodation is not available, it is the responsibility of the participant to make his / her own arrangements for accommodation. The list of participants for whom accommodation has been made available will be put up on this website.
